Obituary of Dorothy May (Francis) Teixeira

Dorothy May (Francis) Teixeira, 84, of Peabody, died Saturday afternoon at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Edward Teixeira. She was born in Cambridge on April 4, 1922 the daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret (Galvin) Francis and was a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin School in 1939. She has resided in Peabody for the past 56 years. She had been a sales clerk for over 30 years, first at Filenes and later at J.J. Newberry Store at the North Shore Mall and later at the Ann & Hope Store at the Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers until her retirement 11 years ago. She had served on the Board of Directors of the American Ex-POW Chapter 1 of Massachusetts. She loved to travel and enjoyed the ocean and the North Shore beaches. She is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-laws, Edward and Carol Teixeira of Stonybrook, N.Y, and Robert and Erin Teixeira of Dover, NH, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Donald Richard of Peabody and Claire and George Apostolides of Edgartown, MA, 9 grandchildren, Donald Richard of Peabody, Alison Richard of Orlando, FL, Edward Teixeira and Denise Teixeira of New York, James Apostolides of Saratoga Springs, NY and Peter Apostolides of Boston, Stephany and Stacey Teixeira both of Tewksbury and Margaret Teixeira of Dover, NH, a great granddaughter, Lily Richard of Vt and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late James , Edward and Claire Francis. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill- Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in ST. John’ s Church, Peabody at 9:00 AM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Mem Park, Peabody.
