Obituary of Patrick J. Carrette

Patrick J. Carrette, 88 PEABODY – Patrick J. Carrette, 88, died peacefully on Friday December 15, 2017 at the Rubin Home in Saugus, while in the comforting presence of his family, following an extended illness. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Annette (Barrette) Carrette. He grew up in Salem and in Lynn. He graduated from St. Mary’s Boy’s High School in Lynn. Later he matriculated at Northeastern University for undergraduate, and earned a Masters Degree from Salem State College. He was a veteran of the Korean War, with service in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. Mr. Carrette had a passion for earth sciences, and enjoyed his career as a Science Teacher at the Belmonte Junior High School in Saugus for over 40 years. Patrick enjoyed Geology, and appreciated natural earth formations. He was a member of the Andover Sportsman’s Club, was a general fan of Boston sports. He was a Charter Member of the Peabody Historical Society, and a longtime Award-winning member of Toast Masters. He also was a member of the V.F.W. Post 153 and American Legion Post 1011 of Peabody, and the Veterans for Peace Organization. He is survived by a son and daughter, Michael & his wife Ann Carrette of North Reading and Susan Carrette of Intervale, NH; six grandchildren, Katelyn Jolibert & her husband Sylvain of North Andover, Meghan Picanco & her husband Thomas of North Andover, Michael Carrette & his wife Melissa of Fairhaven, Brandon Carrette of Los Angeles, CA, Haley Murnik and Lara Murnik both of Intervale, NH; seven great-grandchildren, Louis and Elise Jolibert, Finley, Evlin, and Owen Picanco, and Samuel and Harrison Carrette, as well as. He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by a brother George Carrette and a nephew Patrick Carrette. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Wednesday December 20, 2017 at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Ann’s Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. Memorial donations may be made to the Veterans for Peace, 1404 North Broadway, St. Louis, MO 63102.
