Obituary of Salvatore Pantano

Salvatore “Sam” Pantano, 88, of Peabody, died Wednesday evening at the NSMC-Salem Hospital after a long illness. He was the loving husband of Nancy (Tufts) Pantano with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Sam was born in Salem, MA on June 25, 1929 and is the son of the late Santo and Rosalia (Buccheri) Pantano. He was raised there and had resided in Peabody for the past 53 years. He was a graduate of Salem High School in 1946 and later from Burdette College. He then entered the US Army during the Korean War for two years prior to his discharge in 1953. After, he entered Suffolk University where he received his master’s Degree. Sam was a Math teacher for over 25 years and was first employed at Portsmouth School System in NH for 4 years and later with the Salem School system for 20 years prior to his retirement. He loved playing golf at the Salem Municipal Golf course and was a member of the Christopher Columbus golf league. He also enjoyed watching the New England Patriots and taking care of his investments. His most precious time was spent with his family. He is survived by his family, his wife Nancy of Peabody, a sister and brother-in-law, Lucy and Henry Szczechowicz of Beverly, MA, a nephew Kris Szczechowicz of San Diego, CA, his brothers-in-law, Ralph Tufts of Tucson, AZ and William Tufts of Mystic, CT and many fellow teachers and friends. A visitation will be held on Wednesday December 27, 2017 from 10:00 until 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St Peabody facility followed by a Service there at 11:30 AM.
