Obituary of Ruth L Bonfanti

Ruth L. (Griffin) Bonfanti, formerly of Peabody and Gloucester, died peacefully at home on December 23, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was the daughter of the late George and Marie (Gelineau) Griffin. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of St. John’s High School, class of 1945. She graduated from St. John’s Hospital Nursing School in Lowell, received her diploma in 1948 and was a cadet nurse. In 1985 she earned a B.S. in Business Management at St. Joseph’ College in Maine. Ruth was employed as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years at the J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody and later retired from the Hunt Memorial Hospital in Danvers. Ruth was the devoted wife of the late Leonard S. Bonfanti. She is survived by her brother Joseph Griffin and his wife Evelyn of Peabody. Ruth also leaves behind her son Richard and wife Patricia Bonfanti of Gloucester, her daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Robert Brown, Maryanne and Matthew Cronin of Georgetown, and Lisa and Mark McCormick of Greenville, NC. As well as her beloved grandchildren, Matthew and Erin Brown, Richard Bonfanti, Lindsay and Sean Lundy, Hannah, Elizabeth, and Christopher McCormick, and Matthew and Amy Cronin, and great grandchildren, Nathan, Kyle, and Colin Brown and James Lundy. She was predeceased by her siblings, George, Richard, Edith, Florence, Marguerite, Patricia, William Nolan and her grandson Robert M. Brown. Ruth enjoyed being part of a large family and has many nieces, nephews and extended family. Her funeral will be on Friday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday December 28th from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St. Peabody.
