Obituary of Valerie J. (Mowbray) Osborne
Valerie J. (Mowbray) Osborne, 66, of Pleasant St., beloved wife of the late George Osborne, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning at her home following a brief illness.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth J. and Emeline (Fountaine) Mowbray, Sr. She was a lifelong resident of the city and attended Peabody public schools. She graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1954.
Mrs. Osborne was a Clerical Worker with Salem Hospital and later with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Boston for many years.
She was a volunteer at the Polls on Election Day at the Welch School Precinct, and was a member of the Ladies Auxilliary of the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.) of Peabody.
She is survived by: two brothers, Kenneth J. Mowbray, Jr., of Lynn and Richard H. Mowbray of Peabody; one sister, Cheryl Mowbray of Decatur, GA; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Osborne, and her mother, Emeline Mowbray last summer, and her father, Kenneth J. Mowbray, Sr.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 10 AM from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Ceremony at 11 AM in St. Peter’ s Episcopal Church, Salem to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation was held on Wednesday from 5 to 9 PM. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
