Obituary of Donald L. Goddard

Donald L. Goddard, 66, of Peabody, died early Wednesday morning at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington following a brief illness. He was the former husband of the late Geraldine (Nigro) (Goddard) Reed. Born in East Boston, he was the son of Shirley A. Smith of Peabody and the late Charles R Goddard. He was raised by his mother and step farther, the late Ralph Iannelli and was educated in Peabody. Donald worked independently as a custom auto restoration and upholstery specialist throughout the North Shore for many years before his illness. Donald was a fun-loving person who was well known for his sense of humor and making people laugh and had a tremendous work ethic as well. He also enjoyed watching all of Boston’s professional sports team and was an avid fan of both the Patriots and Red Sox. Besides his loving mother, he is survived by his devoted daughter, Heather Hawkes of Peabody, his beloved siblings, Charlie and his wife Melissa Goddard of Melrose and Carol A. Santapaula of Danvers, his three nieces and a nephew, Christopher and his wife Alicia Goddard of Danvers, Delia and her husband Daniel Stanley of Danvers, Kelly Goddard Mondi and her husband David Mondi of Danvers, and Jamie and her husband John Lindeman of Georgetown. He is also survived by many close cousins, aunts, uncles, and grand nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. John’s the Baptist Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
