Obituary of Gertrude E. (Pratt) Caracoglia
Gertrude E. (Pratt) Caracoglia, 95, of Peabody, died Tuesday afternoon at the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Louis Caracoglia.
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Florence (Chase) Pratt. She was raised in Lynn and attended Lynn public schools. She has lived in Peabody for the past 60 years.
She was an inspector in the shoe industry in which she worked for over 50 years. She first was employed by Benson shoe in Lynn and later Copley Shoe in Wakefield before retiring. After her retirement she worked with the North Shore Community Action Program in Peabody for another 5 years.
She was a member of the Grange Association in both Peabody and Danvers, also enjoyed playing bingo and doing arts and crafts. She had an extensive porcelain doll collection and enjoyed helping and supported her family and St. Paul’ s Episcopal Church in Peabody.
She is survived by a daughter, Judith Enos of Peabody; a sister, Phyllis Ellyson of Maine; three grandchildren, Lisa Gallant of Beverly, Ed Peralta of Peabody and Holly Peralta of Milford, New Hampshire and is also survived 3 great grandchildren and by several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of six late brothers and two late sisters.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation prior to the service from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. Burial will be private.
