Obituary of Sister Julie Frances Gildea SNDdeN

Sister Julie Frances Gildea SNDdeN, 90, (Anne Theresa Gildea), died peacefully on January 22, 2018 at Notre Dame Long Term Care Center, Worcester, MA. Sister Julie, the daughter of Francis and Anne (Anderson) Gildea, was born in Woburn on April 10, 1927. She entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur on August 8, 1944. She made her first vows on January 30,1947and her final vows on July 30, 1952. Sister received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Emmanuel College and Masters in Education from Salem State University. During her years in ministry as a Sister of Notre Dame, Sister Julie served in Worcester, Marblehead, Needham, Tyngsboro and Lowell. For her last thirty-one years in ministry, Sister Julie served as Principal at St. Monica’s Elementary School in Methuen. She was predeceased by her sisters Rose Gildea and Mary Connors; and her brother John. She will be greatly missed by her many devoted and loving nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews, as well as her Sisters of Notre dame de Namur. Sister Julie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 27 at Our Lady of Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffrey’s Neck Road, Ipswich at 11:00AM. Her family and her Notre Dame community will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a Prayer Service at 10:00. Burial will follow the Mass.
