Obituary of Ruth A. (Crowley) McCormick

Ruth A. McCormick, 90, beloved wife of the late George McCormick, died peacefully on Tuesday evening at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading while in the comforting presence of her family, following an extended illness. Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Margaret (Ryan) Crowley. She grew up in Malden and graduated from Girls Catholic High School. She then attended the Hickox Business School. Mrs. McCormick was a Stenographer with New England Telephone for over 10 years, as she left to be at home nurturing her loving family. Ruth was a longtime communicant at St. Ann’s Church in Peabody. She enjoyed walking, traveling in Winter to North Fort Meyers, FL, and lived at Brooksby Village the last 12 years. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, and hosting friends at her home. She is survived by a daughter and two sons, Dianne McCormick and her Partner Alan Apice of Methuen, George “Dennis” McCormick and his fiance Elaine Higgins of Stoughton, and Michael McCormick and his Partner Amy Stone of Melrose; six grandchildren, Maribeth Hopkins, Christina Pernokis, Andra Pernokis, Sarah McCormick, George McCormick, and Danielle McCormick; two great-grandchildren Taylor Hopkins and Connor Hopkins; a sister-in-law Rita Barry of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Joseph Crowley and Irene Collins and mother-in-law of the late Anne P. McCormick. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Saturday January 27, 2018 at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Ann’s Church in Peabody at 10 AM. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 – 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
