Obituary of Francelina M Marshall

Francelina M. (Cunha) Marshall, 90, of Peabody, passed away Wednesday morning at CareOne at Peabody surrounded by her loving family, following a period of declining health. She was the loving wife of the late Leonard “Lenny” Marshall, who passed away in 2012. Francelina was born on May 2, 1927 in Peabody, daughter of the late Jesse & Matilda (Ferreira) Cunha. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody, attending Peabody Public Schools and making her home on Harris St. in Peabody, along with her husband. Prior to her retirement, Francelina worked at GTE Sylvania, Hytron in Salem, and then as a teacher’s aide for the ESL program at the Carroll School. She was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, where she participated in the church committee for years, and also a member of the Azorean Brotherhood of the Divine Holy Ghost, and the Portuguese American War Veterans Post 101 all in Peabody. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, cooking a variety of meals, most importantly being surrounded by her loving family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Leonard and Cynthia Marshall and a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jose Silva, all of Danvers; her 4 grandchildren, Kristen and her husband Joe DeBernardo, Jonathan and Amanda Silva all of Danvers and Bethany Marshall of Watertown; 3 great- grandchildren, Joseph, Thomas and Juliana DeBernardo of Danvers, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Delores and Joseph Silva, and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by a sister in law and brother in law, Judith and Joseph Marshall. The Marshall family would like to thank the staff at CareOne at Peabody for all the kindness and excellent care they extended to Francelina during her time there. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, January 29 at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home,82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Walsh Ave, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 28 from 3:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
