Obituary of Louis W Rochon

Louis W Rochon, 88, of Haverhill and formerly of Peabody and Salem, died Sunday afternoon at Lawrence General Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Joan (Paskowski) Rochon with whom he shared over 32 years of marriage Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Szczepanek) Rochon, and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1948. A Korean Army War veteran, he served in the Punch Bowl of Korea and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, United Nation Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Star, and the Korean Service Medal before his honorable discharge on February 23, 1953. He was a member of the American Legion Spear Post 331 in Beverly, VFW Post 1524 in Salem, and was very active member of the Salem YMCA. Louis was a firefighter for the city of Peabody for over 33 years before retiring on July 20, 1990 and was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters. Louis is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Kirby Fiegel of OR, Carol and Blake Seale of West Newbury, and Tricia and Jay Povey of Hamstead, NH, his sister, Bella Doucette of Haverhill, his sister-in-law, Barbara Rochon of Salem and is also survived by his beloved 5 grandchildren, Lily, Blake Jr., Carly, Adam, and Isabel, and by a great grandchild, Harrison and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Michael Rochon and his brother, Salem fire fighter Fred Rochon. His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
