Obituary of Robert C. Kiley

Robert C. Kiley, 81, of Peabody, passed away at the NSMC Salem Hospital on Thursday, January 25, 2018 following a brief illness. Bob was born in Peabody on July 15, 1936 son of the late Dr. Cornelius and Virginia (Foley) Kiley. Raised in Peabody, he graduated from Brown & Nichols in Cambridge and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Brown University. Bob was employed for many years as a chemist in the oil industry and later on was a salesman at Wallachs Clothing Store at the North Shore Shopping Center and at Northshore Lincoln Mercury in Peabody. He was an avid reader and frequented the Peabody Library almost on a daily basis, and spent countless hours at meetings with friends. Bob is survived by a brother, Cornelius Kiley and his wife Etsuko of PA; a niece, Mary Kate Kiley of Peabody; many cousins, his dear friends, Peter and Elizabeth “Betty” Kent, Charlene and Christopher Giangrande all of Marblehead, Heather and Georges Bernardin of PA, George Sullivan of NH, and a friend of Bill W. for 46 years. He was also predeceased by his brother Philip Kiley and sister-in-law Ann Kiley. His visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 1st from 10 a.m. followed by his Celebration of Life service at 11:30 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Bob had requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his memory to Haven from Hunger, 71 Wallis St., P.O. Box 46, Peabody, MA 01960. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
