Obituary of Paul A. Chigas

Paul A. Chigas 85, of Hampton NH formerly of Peabody, husband of the late Linda Ruth (Batchelder) Chigas, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Oceanside Skilled and Rehabilitation Center. Paul was born in Peabody on March 3, 1932 son of Arthur and Rose (Barounas) Chigas. Raised and educated in Peabody he graduated from Peabody High School in 1950. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy in 1950 and served aboard the USS Taconic AGC 17, and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was employed for many years as a construction laborer and then worked for the City of Peabody School Department until his retirement. He was a member of the VFW Fidelity Post 1011, the American Legion Post 70 in Seabrook, NH, and also enjoyed going to the racetrack. Paul is survived by 3 sons and their wives, Thomas and Diane Chigas of Amesbury, John Chigas of Freeport ME, and Chris and Effie Chigas of Peabody, 4 grandchildren, Matthew, George, Jacob and Devin, and several nieces and nephews. His family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, February 13th from 9:30 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by his funeral service in the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be held at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
