Obituary of Nicholas V. Bezemes

Nicholas V. Bezemes, 87, of Peabody, died Tuesday afternoon at the Shaughnessey Kaplin Rehabilitation Hospital in Salem after a short illness. He was the husband of Eugenia (Newell) Bezemes with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. He was born in Peabody on January 27, 1919, the son of the late Vasilios N. and Evagelia (Christophorou) Bezemes and had resided here all his life. He had been a buffer at the former Korn Leather Co, of Peabody for over 25 years. He then became a real estate broker for 2 years and then was a machinist at the Young Machinery Co. at the Peabody Industrial Park for 10 years before his retirement 22 years ago. He was a veteran of WW 11 serving for 4 years in the European theatre with the US Army. Following his discharge, he built his present home by himself and also did his own gardening for several years. He was very inventive and helped build a prototype for the catalytic converter on the carburation systems of cars. He received a diploma on Diesel Engineering and loved to putter around his house. Surviving him besides his wife are three daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Faria and Bonnie and Thomas Todisco all of Peabody and Joyce Bezemes of Hampton Falls, NH, a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Lisa Bezemes of Seabrook, NH, a brother, John Bezemes of Saugus, a sister, Constance Ricci of Beverly, 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Eaton of Gloucester, Christopher Eaton of LA, California, Alison Faria and Colby Todisco both of Peabody and Ashley Bezemes of Seabrook, NH and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Nicholas Bezemes Jr. and the brother of the late Peter and Venita Bezemes, Virginia Malik, Katherine Mc Lennon and Mary Keller. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the new 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Funeral Services will be held there on Friday at 10:00 AM Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
