Obituary of Marylou McLaughlin

Marylou McLaughlin 79 of Wells Maine passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5 2018 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth NH. She was born in Lynn, MA on July 2, 1938, the daughter of the late James V. and Virginia R. (Goldthwaite) McLaughlin. Raised in Lynn, she graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1955 and then from the Catherine Laboure School of Nursing in 1958. She worked as an RN for more than 50 years at Salem Hospital, Salem MA. She fulfilled her lifelong dream of living by the beach in Maine when she moved to Wells Beach. Marylou loved the ocean and taking long walks on the beach. She loved sitting by the fire with a good book or knitting. Above all else, Marylou’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Surviving family members include her 3 children, Christopher Gangi and his wife Tracy of Middleton, Bethany Moriarty of Southport, CT, and Craig Gangi and his partner Angelo Rivera of Los Angeles, CA; her 5 grandchildren, Geena, Toni and Daniel Gangi and Grace and Liam Moriarty; her siblings Cheryl Williams of NH, Paul McLaughlin of MN and Teresa Clark of MA. She was loved by many nieces, nephews and friends. She was also the sister of the late William McLaughlin of MA. A Visitation and Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 1 to 3 PM at Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, MA. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marylou’s memory to St. Anthony’s Franciscan Monastery, 28 Beach Ave., Kennebunkport, ME 04043.
