Obituary of Rose M. (Santos) Cook

Rose M. (Santos) Cook, of Peabody, died early Saturday morning at the Kindred Care Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Francis Cook, with whom she shared over 50 years of Marriage. Born and raised in Ipswich, she was the daughter of the late Cyrano and Maria (Cunha) Santos. She later lived in Salem and attended Salem Public Schools and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1943. She has resided in Peabody for the past 53 years. She had worked for Henry Leather in Peabody for 15 years and later she, along with her husband, co-owned Reno’ s Sub Shop in Cambridge for 10 years before her retirement. She was a member of St. John’ s Church and Alhambra Sultana Lugo 113, both in Peabody. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Lisa Cook and Gary and Ruthann Cook, all of Peabody’ 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Jesse DiPlacido of Lynnfield, Priscilla and Manny Raposo of North Andover, and Clara and Joe Spatafore of Peabody; a brother, Robert Santos of California; a sister, Florence Bash of Salem; 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the sister of ten late brothers and sisters and the grandmother of the late Richard DiPlacido. Her Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Tuesday from 4 until 8:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Expression of sympathy can be sent to the Order of Alhambra’ s, P.O. Box 203, Peabody, MA 01960.
