Obituary of Barbara J. (Lewis) Kelley

Barbara J. (Lewis) Kelley, 68, wife of John E. Kelley of Peabody, died Wednesday May 24, 2006 at her home after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Kelley was born on August 8, 1937 in Chelsea daughter of the late Clifton H. and Daisy G. (Bragg) Lewis. She was raised in Chelsea and graduated from Chelsea High School Class of 1955. In 1966 she moved to Peabody with her family. Mrs. Kelley began her working career as a teller at Danvers Savings Bank. Prior to her retirement in 1997, she was employed with the City of Peabody Assessors Office for 11 years. Her life was devoted to her family and later her grandchildren became her pride and joy. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Victory Chapter 157 in Marblehead, a Past Worthy Matron from Ruth Chapter 37 of Saugus and was also the Secretary of the Vestry at St. Paul’ s Episcopal Church in Peabody. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Donna L. Murray, Brenda J. and Kenneth LeCompte, Patricia A. and John S. Brownell Jr. all of Peabody, John E. Kelley Jr. and Linda Kelley of Burlington, Paul E. and Victoria Kelley of Haverhill; 2 brothers and their wives, Clifton H. Lewis Jr. and Nancy Lewis of El Paso TX, Keith and Pamela Lewis of Danvers; 2 sisters and their husbands, Lillian and Charles Mork of So. Milwaukee WI, Linda and Charles Cueny of Waterford MI; 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her brother Ralph Lewis pre deceased her. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody location followed by a service at 10 a.m. in St. Paul’ s Episcopal Church, 12 Washington St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Friday 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 p.m. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
