Obituary of William F. "Bill" Tracchia

William F. “Bill” Tracchia 83, of Peabody, loving husband of Alice H. (Connelly) Tracchia, passed away at Care One in Peabody on Sunday, February 18, 2018 with his family at his side. Bill was born in Peabody on September 12, 1934, son of the late Philip and Mary (Russell) Tracchia. Raised and educated in Peabody he graduated from Peabody High School and was a lifelong resident. Bill was employed by the City of Peabody as a heavy equipment operator a position he held until his retirement. His biggest joy in life were his family and later on he enjoyed spending time with his 5 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters. Bill relished celebrating his Irish heritage and traveled to Ireland 7 times. He loved cooking, and a favorite of the family was his grandmother’s ravioli recipe. He enjoyed woodworking and built a cherished family grandfather clock. In addition to his wife Alice with whom he shared 60 years of marriage, he is survived by his children and their spouse, Dianne Dumas and her partner Michael Provencher, Patricia A. and James Dumas, and William F. Tracchia Jr. and Julie Tracchia, all of Peabody; his cherished grandchildren, Kevin Dumas and his wife Bethany, Patrick Dumas, Michelle Dumas, William Tracchia, and Nicholas Tracchia, 2 great granddaughters, Olivia and Charlotte Dumas, 3 sisters-in-law, Dorothy Little of Salem, Kathleen Connelly of Peabody and -Lorraine Connelly of Plum Island, and many special nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by 3 brothers Quintin, Phil and Barry Tracchia and 2 brothers-in-law Daniel Connelly and Phil Little. The family would also like to express their heart felt gratitude to the caring staff at Care One. His family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, February 21st from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. from the funeral home followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made to Care One patient activities, 199 Andover Street., Peabody, MA 01960. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
