Obituary of Katherine "Kay" V. Surman
Katherine “Kay” V. Surman, 61 PEABODY – Katherine “Kay” V. Surman, 61, died peacefully at her home in Danvers on Tuesday February 20, 2018, while in the comforting presence of her family, following a brief illness. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Sophie (Lojko) Surman. She grew up in Peabody where she attended schools. As a special needs student, Kay also worked with the Goodwill Industries of Salem, and later with the Bridgewell community. Kay loved listening to music of the 70’s & 80’s dancing, bowling, going to the Topsfield Fair, the color blue, watching Classic TV shows on TV Land, vacations and family time together, as well as anything to do with eggs. She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Ed Gauthier, Sr. of Saugus; two nieces and a nephew, Stacy Sawyer of NH, Jessica King & her husband Peter of Lancaster, and Ed Gauthier, Jr. & his wife Anh of Rochester, NY; seven grandnieces & grandnephews, Caden, Justin, Sophie, Abigail, Evan, Cecilia, and Chloe. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather and wear blue to honor Kay’s favorite color, on Friday February 23, 2018 for a visitation from 9 – 10:30 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in ST. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
