Obituary of Richard Francis Donovan

Richard F. Donovan, 87, of West Peabody died Sunday Evening at his home following a 6 month illness. He was the husband of the late Flora (Herbert) Donovan. He was born in Everett on June 28, 1916, the son of the late Charles and Catherine (Brennan) Donovan and had resided there before moving to Peabody 27 years ago. He had been a ship right at the Boston Naval Shipyard for 33 years and helped restore many Ships including the USS Constitution and the USS Farragut. He enjoyed carpentry and fixing things around the house. He was a veteran of WW 11 where he served with the US Navy in Seattle restoring the ships damaged in the Pacific Theatre campaign. Surviving him are and son and daughter-in-law, Richard F. and Linda Donovan Jr. of West Peabody, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Arthur Robinson of West Peabody and Claire and Robert Mc Gee of Searsport, Me., nine grandchildren, Cheryl Antonelli and Richard Donovan of Peabody, Scott Robinson, Denise Rothwell, Patricia O’ Leary, Robert Mc Gee and Colleen Sutera all of Lynnfield, Dawn Quinlivan of Danvers and Kathleen Donohue of Lynn, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and Nephews. He was the brother of the late James Donovan. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’ s Church, West Peabody at 10:00 a.m. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
