Obituary of Jane E. (Mailhoit) McHugh

Jane E. (Mailhoit) McHugh 89, of Magnolia, wife of the late Eugene T. McHugh, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 with her loving family at her side. Jane was born and raised in Peabody, daughter of Adolph and Lillian (Murphy) Mailhoit. She graduated from Peabody High School and received her Associates Degree from Becker College. She resided in Peabody before retiring to Florida in 1992 and then moving to Magnolia in 2005. Jane was an avid golfer and quite proud of her multiple holes-in-one. She also traveled extensively and cruised worldwide with her husband of 57 years, Gene, and their close group of friends…” The Rat Pack”. But Hawaii was truly their “Home away from Home”. Jane worked at Danvers State and Beverly Hospitals. Prior to her retirement in 1988, she was employed for 20 years at Bostik USM in Middleton, MA. Jane is survived by her children and their spouses, Thomas and Persis Grace McHugh of Hernando FL, Jeanne McHugh of Magnolia, Timothy and Brenda McHugh of Amherst NH, Kathleen McHugh and Jonathan Kail of Essex, and Sean and Karen McHugh of Peabody; 8 grandchildren, Scott, Brett, Jessica, Rachel, Megan, Kayla, Michael, Ava Jane, as well as 3 great grandchildren. She was especially loved by her pack of “Grand-Dogs”. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, February 25th from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Margin St., Peabody followed by a grave side service at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
