Obituary of Diane T. "Mabel" Labrecque
Diane T. “Mabel” Labrecque 66, of Salem, passed away at the NSMC-Salem Hospital on Saturday, February 24, 2018 with her loving and caring family at her side. Diane was born in Peabody on July 31, 1951 daughter of the late Leopold J. “Paul” and Eva M. (Paquette) Labrecque. Raised in Salem she graduated from Salem High School in 1969 and was a lifelong resident of the city. Diane had her own cleaning business, as well as being employed for 30 years for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation. She lived with her twin sister Donna and helped raise her nephew Jake and his late sister Jaime. For the past 10 years she cherished spending time with her grandniece and grandnephew Olivia and Lucas Maki, who affectionately referred to her as “Chutchie”. Diane was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1977 and was very involved with her congregation since that time. She loved people, traveling, and spending time at the beach with family and friends. In addition to her twin sister Donna Maki, with whom she resided in Salem, she is survived by her siblings and their spouses, L. Robert and Eileen Labrecque of Peabody, Lucille Hodgdon, Claire Wilson, both of Salem, and Pearl and David White of Lynn; a special nephew and his wife, Jacob and Jennifer Maki of Peabody and grandniece and grandnephew Olivia and Lucas Maki, a sister-in-law, Mona Labrecque of Beverly, a nephew-in-law, Brett Smith of Salem, and numerous other nieces, nephews, as well as grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a niece Jaime Smith and her siblings Evelyn Labrecque and L. Raymond Labrecque. Diane’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, March 2nd from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody. All are also welcome to her memorial service, which will be held on Saturday, March 3rd at 1p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 79 Endicott St., Peabody.
