Obituary of Richard P. Bucharowski

Richard P. Bucharowski, 81, of Newburyport and formerly of Salem, died Saturday evening at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, NH following a brief illness. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Pawel and Anna (Belej) Bucharowski. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1954. He has lived at the Griffin Home for Men in Newburyport for the past 10 years. After high school, he joined the National Guard and served in peacetime until he was honorably discharged. Richard was a machinist who worked throughout the North Shore including the United Shoe in Beverly until he started his own business, RPB Machine in Salem. He also worked at Jones Machine until his retirement 20 years ago. Richard enjoyed polka dancing, fishing, bowling, and playing cribbage. He prided himself on his vegetable gardens. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed traveling to the Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. He is survived by his daughter Christine Bucharowski of Danvers, his brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Jean Bucharowski of Beverly, his beloved granddaughter, Kaitlin Donlon of Danvers, his former wife Brenda (Puzon) Bucharowski of Peabody, and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Stanley Jaskel and Ann and Lou Sieczkowski. The family would like to thank the staff at the Griffin home for their kindness over the years. Richard adored them. He also enjoyed spending time with his fellow residents, many of which were his closest friends. His funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Margin St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
