Obituary of Josephine V. (Di Milla) McGonagle

Josephine V. (Di Milla) Mc Gonagle, 87, of Peabody, died early Thursday morning at the Sunrise Center in Peabody after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph M. Mc Gonagle who died in 1998. She was born in Cambridge, Ma. on March 19, 1916, the daughter of the late Alessandro and Rose (Soccorso) Di Milla and was raised in Somerville before moving to Peabody 45years ago. She had been a clerk at the Swift Meat Packing Plant in Cambridge for 20 years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, Baking, Gardening and taking care of her family. She is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Francis and Donna Mc Gonagle of Roswell, GA., Paul and Donna Mc Gonagle of Brownfield, Me and Joseph and Jaime Mc Gonagle Jr. of Warwick, RI, a daughter and son-in-law, Jo Anne and Richard Knight of Newbury, a brother and sister-in-law, Salvatore and Rose Di Milla of No. Andover; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose and Ralph Nardella of Cape Cod and Florence and Caesar Zani of Cambridge, Ma., 17 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Antoinette D’ Lessio. Her funeral will be held on Saturday from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Home At the 20 Church St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church Peabody at 11:00 a.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem, Visiting hours on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 AM .
