Obituary of Maria L. Silva

Maria Silva, age 89, passed peacefully on Monday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, after a brief illness. Born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal to the late Carlos Da Sousa Da Silva and Carlota Picanco Silva, Maria was married to the late Antonio Tomaz Silva. Maria came to Peabody nearly sixty years ago. In addition to raising her family with Antonio, she worked in the tanning industry at Cut Rite Tanning in Peabody and Ideal Finish in Salem. She leaves her sons Frank Silva and his wife Kathleen of Fort Walton Beach, FL. and Johnny Silva of Peabody. Her daughters Maria Dunn and Joseph Burke of Middleton, Wilhemina Muse, Nancy Craig and Bill of Peabody, Judy and Bob Dorian and Donna and Rich O’Leary of Hampstead N.H. She was the sister of Carlos DaSilva of Lowell, Arcelina Cunha and Alcida Sousa of Peabody. In addition to her parents Maria was predeceased by her siblings Manuel and Celestino DaSilva and Tereza Quadros. She was a loving grandmother, great-grandmother and great great grand Mother. Maria enjoyed gardening, with a special affection for flowers, but her greatest love was for her family. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours for Maria at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home 82 Lynn St. Peabody on Sunday March 25, 2018 from 3-7 PM. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Monday March 26, 2018 at 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Church 260 North St. Salem at 11 AM. Interment immediate following at Greenlawn Cemetery 57 Orne St. Salem, MA. In lieu of flowers, at the family’s request, donations in Maria’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
