Obituary of Olivia M. (Antonio) Machado

Olivia M. (Antonio) Machado, 85, of Peabody, died Saturday evening at the Shaughnessey Rehab. Hospital, Salem after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Artur Machado. She was born in Fial, Azores, Portugal on March 19, 1918, the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (da Conceicao) Antonio and had resided in the islands of Graciosa and Terceira before moving to Peabody 38 years ago. She had been a seamstress in her home and enjoyed gardening and cooking For her family. She is survived by 6 sons and 4 daughters-in-law, Manuel and Olivia Machado of New Smyrna Beach, Fl., Carlos and Gina Machado, John and Maria Machado and Osvaldo Machado all of Peabody, Daniel and Val Machado of Salem and Juvenal Machado of Mongomery, Al., 3 daughters, Maria Bettencourt of Peabody, Lidia Machado of Reading and Lenore Machado of Lynn, 22 grandchildren, 11 great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Val Machado who died last year. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody at 10:00 a.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4:oo until 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
