Obituary of Florence Louise (Gill) Reid
Florence Louise (Gill) Reid, 97, of Peabody, died Wednesday at the Blueberry Hill Health Care in Beverly after a long illness. She was the wife of the late James A. Reid.
She was born in Peabody on December 22, 1908, the daughter of the late Bernard and Rena (Larrabee) Gill and was educated and resided here most of her life. She had been a stitcher at the former Danvers Bleachery in Peabody for 30 years prior to her retirement.
She was very active for many years and loved to go bike riding and play tennis. She also took many art courses and did several paintings. In her later years, she became a caretaker to her family.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was the mother of the late Douglas Reid and the sister of the late George Gill, Helen Sullivan, Evelyn Kimball and Alice Gill.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society
