Obituary of Rose (Silva) Pais
Rose (Silva) Pais, 102, of Peabody, matriarch of the Pais family, passed away Tuesday morning at NSMC-Salem Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Pais, who passed away in 2000. Rose was born on April 18, 1915, in Peabody, daughter of the late John and Mary Silva. She was raised and educated in Peabody, where she remained for her entire life. In addition to being a homemaker, she assisted her husband with his plumbing company, Pais Plumbing, with office duties, billing, and being the “boss” behind the boss. She was a founding member of the Portuguese American War Veterans Post 1 Women’s Auxiliary Group, to which she was recognized in Peabody’s 2016 Centennial celebrations as being the oldest member of the Post. She was also a member of the Azorean Brotherhood of the Divine Holy Ghost, Our Lady of Fatima Church, the Luso- American Credit Union, and Council on Aging, all in Peabody. She also had many interests that included crocheting, knitting, cooking a variety of Portuguese meals, entertaining people at her house, and scratching her daily scratch ticket. She enriched her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s lives with her generosity, kindness, and understanding, and most importantly with love. She always knew what she wanted and when she wanted it, but never lost sight of her family, and showed them what the true meaning of unconditional love was. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Virginia Le Blanc of Peabody, Anthony E. Pais of Peabody, Edward J. Pais and his wife Donna, of Boca Raton, Fl; her two grandchildren, David A. Pais of Peabody and his former wife, Lisa Pais, Darren Pais and his wife Amynda of Key Largo, Fl; 3 great-grandchildren Aidan Pais, Alison Pais, and Jack Pais, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her siblings, Edward, Jerome, John, James, Eleanor, Elsie Daniels, and her son-in-law Thomas Le Blanc. A Visitation will be held on Friday April 6, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 7, at 9:00 AM at the Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St.., Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Portuguese American War Veterans Post No. 1, 103 Tremont St., Peabody, MA 01960
