Obituary of Janet E. Lendall
Janet E. Lendall, 80 PEABODY – Janet E. Lendall, 80, died unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday April 3, 2018. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Janet (Dalton) Lendall. She grew up in Peabody, and graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1955. Miss Lendall was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Navy for 10 years. She earned a Purple Heart after surviving an explosion in Vietnam. She continued her service to country working for the Central Intelligence Agency for many years and as Executive Secretary as a Civilian to the Navy Vice Admiral in the Pacific Region. She operated her business, Take a Letter Please, as an independent Bookkeeper and performed temporary secretarial work. She was an Executive Personal Assistant for her church, Christ Episcopal Church of Andover where she was very devoted in her faith, and worked for North Shore Music Theater in Beverly for over five years. She enjoyed traveling throughout the world, and enjoyed Germany, China, and Japan where she lived in Okinawa for a period of time. She was very fond of England and collected many trinkets honoring all things of Great Britain. She is survived by a brother Peter Lendall of Effingham, NH and two nephews Peter Lendall of Peabody and Joseph Lendall of Medford, and a cousin Betty Sweeney of Lynn. She was sister of the late Ellen Mitchell. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a Memorial Funeral Service on Tuesday May 8, 2018 at 11 AM in Christ Church Episcopal, 33 Central St., Andover. A Graveside Funeral Committal was held on Thursday April 12, 2018 at 11:30 AM with burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
