Obituary of Dolores M. (Sylvester) Grieco

Dolores M. (Sylvester) Grieco, 77, of Beverly, beloved wife of the late William Grieco passed away at Care One at Essex Park on Thursday, April 19, 2018 with her loving family at her side. Dolores was born in Salem on November 14, 1940 daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Donovan) Sylvester. Raised in Salem, she graduated from Salem High School in 1958 and has resided in Beverly for the past 40 years. Dolores was employed as a Claims Representative at Travelers, a position she held for 25 years until her retirement in 1995. She was a loving mother who devoted her life to her children and later on she spent countless hours with her grandchildren. Dolores enjoyed reading the Salem Evening News everyday but lately she refused to buy the Saturday edition, because it was ridiculous to pay that kind of money for a paper that skinny. Every morning Dolores enjoyed her Mocha Iced coffee drinks, loved shopping, walking around her Ryal Side neighborhood, playing Bingo and loved watching the Voice and American Idol. Many will remember her favorite quote the past few years “I am not going to work today, Love you all, and I am still the Boss!” The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Care One at Essex Park (Hannah Floor) and also to the Care Dimensions hospice staff “Nurse Amy Bartlett and Jennie Robinson” for the passionate care she received at her home. Dolores is survived by her children and their spouses, Deborah and David Kolodziej of Mulberry FL, John and Maureen Payne of Salem, and Lisa and Ricky Kent of Beverly. She was Mammy to her cherished grandchildren Courtney and Cameron Kent, Joshua and Jessica Kolodziej, Dylan, Taylor and Brandon Payne, Shannon, Derek, Shane and Erin Field and their spouses and great grandchildren Brianna, Kayla, Madison, Christian, Shane Jr., Michael, Nathaniel, Ava, Braylan, Kora, Mason and Khiry; also survived by her siblings and their spouses, Robert Sylvester of Beverly, Gaye Gaudreau and Barbara and Ronald Holloran all of Peabody, Carol and Peter Porcello, Kathleen Wilkinson, and Joan Sylvester all of Salem; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and her “Best Friend Robin”. She was also predeceased by her former husband John R. Payne. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, April 24th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a service at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. The family requested that memorial contributions be made to Care Dimensions www.caredimensions.org . A family committal of ashes will be held at a later time.
