Obituary of Phyllis Jean Freeman

Phyllis Jean (Leake) Freeman, 90, of Peabody, died early Tuesday morning at the Brentwood Nursing Home in Danvers following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late William E. Freeman, Sr with whom she shared over 69 years of marriage Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Lesley and Susan (Murphy) Leake. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School. Phyllis was an active member of St. Ann’s Church in Peabody and was involved with the bizarre, pre-Cana and any other activities that involved the church and later worked part-time as a sales clerk at the former Jordan Marsh store at the North Shore Mall. Her favorite activity though, was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and sharing in all of their endeavors. She will be dearly missed. Phyllis is survived by her two sons and three daughters-in-law, William E. Freeman, Jr and Zan Freeman of Peabody, Paul and Sallie Freeman of Holliston, and Marie Freeman of Beverly, her sister, Anne Kiley of Georgetown, her beloved grandchildren, Melissa and her husband Jared Waterman, Christopher Freeman, Kaitlin and her husband Tom Gatti, Patrick, Ryan, Meaghan and her husband Sean McEachern, and Cynthia Freeman, and by her great grandchildren, Devin, Cole, Liam, Grace, Emma-Jean, and Wyatt, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Philip Freeman and her grandson Matthew Freeman. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Lynn St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
