Obituary of Paul A. Dumas
Paul A Dumas, 87, of Peabody, died Saturday morning at the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Barbara (Quinlan) Dumas with whom he shared over 63 years of marriage. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Blanche (Tetrault) Dumas. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody and went to grammar school at St. John’s Parochial School in Peabody and then attended St. Mary’s Boys High School in Lynn, graduating with class of 1948. Paul was a veteran who proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War. Paul was aboard the USS Salem stationed in the Mediterranean before his honorable discharge in 1954. Following his military service, Paul began a 37- year career as a punch pressman and Machine operator, first with Multiflex Last Link Inc in Saugus for 30 years and for the last 7 years with W.J. Young Fastener and Machinery in Peabody before he retired. Paul was a long-time member of the A.O.H. in Peabody and also enjoyed playing golf. He was the winner of the naming contest for city of Peabody’s golf course, The Meadow at Peabody and hit the Ceremonial Opening tee shot on the course. His favorite endeavor though, was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and sharing in all of their activities. He will be dearly missed by all. Besides his loving wife, Paul is survived by his five sons and one daughter and their spouses, Joseph and Pamela, John and Ellen, James and Patti, Edward and Joanne, Thomas and Heather Dumas, and by Mary and David Ditty, his brother, Rev. Emile E. Dumas, MM, his sister, Mary Hunt, and by his beloved 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Charlie and William Dumas, Delia Emerson, Yvonne Bulger, and Emma Harank. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM starting at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
