Obituary of Daniel J. Mahoney

Daniel J. Mahoney 61, of Beverly, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 at the Lahey Medical Center in Burlington with his family at his side. Dan was born in Dorchester on August 14, 1956 son of the late Harold “Dan” and Doris (O’Leary) Mahoney. Raised in Peabody he graduated from Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. He pursued his education at Merrimack College for a year and then decided to move to Houston Texas. While living in Houston he was employed as a chef and then went on to live in New Orleans where he remained employed as a chef at several well-known restaurants. When hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans Dan lost everything. His family brought him back home to Peabody where he resided before moving to Beverly in 2012. Dan’s hobbies included attending shows and the theater in Boston, cooking and reading. Dan is survived by his siblings and their spouses, Kylanne and Joseph Metzger of Bridgewater, Lynn Dullea of Wilmington, and Jill and Dan Jenkins of Peabody; his nieces and nephews, Sam Jenkins and Molly Jenkins, Elizabeth Dullea and Patrick Dullea, and many cousins and friends. His family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, May 12th from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a celebration of life service in the funeral home at 2 p.m. The family requested that memorial contributions may be made to Haven from Hunger, http://www.citizensinn.org/haven-from-hunger/ .
