Obituary of Irma DeAngelis
Irma (Cacciagrani) DeAngelis, 95, of Peabody, died early Friday morning at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late William DeAngelis.
Born in Italy, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Laura (Giraldi) Cacciagrani. She immigrated to the United States in 1910 and settled in the North End section of Boston for 60 years and has lived in Peabody for over 32 years.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a waitress at the family restaurant, Café Amalfi, next to Symphony Hall, Boston, for over 25 years. She also worked 18 years as a high-speed warper for a knitting mill in Taunton.
She was a member of the Sons of Italy group in Hyde Park for over 50 years; the Don Oriorne women’ s auxiliary group in East Boston, and the Peabody Senior Center were she enjoyed her discussion group. She also enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Rose Marie DeAngelis of Burlington, a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra (Toomey) and Robert D’ Errico of Boxford; a sister, Florence Ciampa of Winchester and Florida; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late William DeAngelis, sister of the late Vincent and Albert Cacciagrani, Anita Consolmagno, and Olga Santoro.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Sunday from 3 until 7 PM. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
