Obituary of Peter S. Puleo

Peter S. Puleo, 73, of Peabody, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford. Peter was born in Peabody on September 15, 1944 son of the late Joseph and Veronica (Lastih) Puleo. Raised in Peabody, he graduated from Peabody High School in 1963. In 1964, he enlisted in the U.S Army and served as a Staff Sergeant with Co A, 6th SFG(ABN), 1st SF. During his enlistment he had Special Forces/Green Beret training, received his Parachutist Badge and was also awarded the Vietnam Service and Army Commendation Medals, and he was honorably discharged in 1967. Peter was employed at the U.S. Postal Office as a postman and retired as a supervisor following 30 years of dedicated service. During his employment with USPS he also bartended part time at North Shore restaurants. He was a lifelong member of the VFW Post 2359 in Danvers, DAV Post 84 and PLAV 55 in Salem and the American Legion Post 227 in Middleton. As hobbies, he enjoyed quahog clam fishing and golfing. Peter is survived by his loving and devoted son, Peter C. Puleo of Conway NH, 3 grandchildren, Joseph C. Puleo, Gianna Marie Puleo and Joseph Puleo Perkins; his sister, JoAnn Smyrnios and her husband George of Peabody; a brother, Joseph Puleo of Salisbury; an aunt, Anne Dupar of Marblehead; his former wife Dianne B. Puleo of Middleton, and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins and friends. He was also predeceased by his children Kimberly Puleo and Joseph Puleo, and a sister Janice Paras. His family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, May 14th from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by his Celebration of Life service in the funeral home at 1 p.m. The interment of ashes and Army Military Honors will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
