Obituary of Alyce L Kohut
Alyce L. (Crosby) Kohut, 85, of Peabody, devoted wife of the late Arthur F. Kohut, died unexpectedly early Saturday morning at Salem Hospital.
Born in Danvers, she was the daughter of the late Bradford and Elizabeth (Smith) Crosby. She was raised and educated in Danvers, and was a graduate of the Holden High School, class of 1936. She has spent the last 67 years living in Peabody.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a Sales Clerk, first with Axle rod in Salem for 20 years and later at the former Jordan Marsh Store at the North Shore Mall in Peabody, for 12 years.
She was a member of the Veteran of Foreign War women’ s Auxiliary, post 1011 in Peabody. She also enjoyed knitting, gardening, reading and bingo.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, A. Francis and Dolores Kohut of Fallston, MD; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Edward Volta of Saugus, a grandchild, Dia and her husband Cruz Garcia of Boynton Beach, Fla. She was the sister of the late Henry Crosby, Ida Ellis, and Flora O’ Neill.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 9:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Monday from 5 until 8:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
