Obituary of Isabel L O'Rourke

Isabel L. (Bogel) (Lee) O’Rourke, 93, of Peabody, died Tuesday afternoon at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. She was the former wife of the late Dr. Hugh J. O’Rourke and John F. Lee. Born in Danvers, she was the daughter of the late Stanislaus and Julianna (Szygula) Bogel. She was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School, class of 1942. She has lived in Peabody for the past 50 years. After high school, Isabel worked at the former United Shoe in Beverly before starting her family. Isabel returned to the work force later and was employed as a switchboard operator as well as in the admitting department at the former J. B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody working full time until retiring at age 80. Isabel is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Paul Kostos and Janet and Bill Murphy, all of Peabody, her sister-in-law, Jennie Bogel of Danvers, her beloved four grandchildren, Michael Kostos and his fiancé Antuanella Gamarra, David Kostos and his fiancé Victoria Leisey, and Connor and Evan Murphy and by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Louis Bogel, Helena Duda, Laura Wladkowski, and Adele Paskowsky. Following cremation, her visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Her Funeral Service will be on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
