Obituary of Anne M. (Donoghue) Brown

Anne Margaret (Donoghue) Brown, 70, of Beverly and formerly of Peabody, died Sunday evening at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Gordon K. Brown. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anne M. (Mannion) Donoghue. She was raised and educated in Peabody, attended St. John’s grammar school and then graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School, class of 1965. She continued her education at Salem State College and received her BS degree in 1969. Anne taught in the Peabody School system for over 38 years. She first taught at the former JFK Junior High School and later finished her teaching career at the Higgins Middle School. She taught short-hand, business basics and after receiving her master’s degree form Leslie College in 1991, she taught computers, and finally, before retiring she was the in school suspension officer. Following her retirement, she enjoyed wintering in Florida with friends where she enjoyed the fruits of her labor. She is survived by her two brothers and sister-in-law, Michael J. Donoghue of Amherst and Joseph T. and his wife Donna Donoghue of Salem, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Ellen and Robert Stern of Rye, NY, Maureen Dooley of Norwood, and Edward Lawn of Oakland, NJ, her best friend, Denise Martwichuck of Peabody and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Kathleen Lawn and her brother-in-law, James Dooley. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 am at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St, Downtown locations followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Margin St. Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Brian D.
