Obituary of Madeline Ann Cena

Madeline A. (Cummings) Cena, 85, of 12 Crowninshield St., beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Cena, died unexpectedly on Tuesday afternoon at the Rosewood Nursing & Rehab Center in Peabody following a brief illness. Born in Hull, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ellen Cummings. She lived in Hull and in Michigan for a short time, but lived most of her life in Peabody. She attended Peabody schools and graduated from Peabody High School. Besides being a mother, Mrs. Cena worked at GTE Sylvania, and returned to work as an Assembler at Metcom in Salem, CBS Hytron in Danvers, and E.G. & G in Salem before retiring 20 years ago. She loved travel with her husband and family, especially social gatherings with family and friends. She is survived by: one daughter and son-in-law, Lenore & Thomas W. Powers of Northampton, NH; one son, Paul Cena of Sunnyvale, CA; one grandson, Paul J. Cena of Salem, MA; one sister, Genevieve Foster of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Cummings. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 11 AM at the Broadway United Methodist Church, Broadway, Lynn, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. in the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
