Obituary of Julie (Bezemes) Kallas
Julie (Bezemes) Kallas, 95 PEABODY – Julie (Bezemes) Kallas, 95, beloved wife of the late James Kallas, died peacefully on Sunday June 3, 2018 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a brief illness. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Katherine (Ravaris) Bezemes. She grew up and was a lifelong resident of the city. She graduated from Peabody High School. While working at Sylvania, she wandered across the street to the Salem Diner, where she met the owner who became her future husband, James. Once married she welcomed her nurturing role of keeping the house and raising her children. Julie was a passionate Red Sox fan, liked going to the ocean, their Summer Camp on Bow Lake, traveling, and her Cocker Spaniel dogs. She was devoted to her faith attending St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody before her illness. Her strongest passion was to her family, and she loved hosting family get togethers. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She is survived by a son and two daughters, Estelle and Charles McInnis of New Port Richey, FL, Kathryn and Harry Hansen of Newburyport, and John Kallas of Peabody; two granddaughters, Alexa Gordon and her husband Brett and Jamie Hansen; one great-grandson Jace Gordon; a sister Mary Maheras of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a visitation on Friday June 8, 2018 from 10 – 11 AM at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church,Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service in the church at 11 AM. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
