Obituary of Mary D. (Donovan) Curcio

Mary D. (Donovan) Curcio 91, of Orleans formerly of Chelsea, wife of the late Anthony J. Curcio, passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 with her family at her side. Mary was born in Boston on March 26, 1927 daughter of Harold and Marie (Burke) Donovan. Raised and educated in Chelsea she resided there for most of her life before moving to Orleans in 2008. Mary began her working career as a telephone operator leaving to raise her family. She was later employed for many years as a secretary/administrator at Massachusetts General Hospital until her retirement. She was a loving mother who devoted her life to her family and was so proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Always fashionable, Mary enjoyed the beach and was especially proud of her elaborate and beautiful holiday village she displayed annually at Christmastime. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Michael Zaitz and his companion Debra Clark of Orleans, Christopher and Jennifer Curcio of Peabody, Marie and Dennis DeMeo of Lynn, Joseph Curcio of NH; her cherished grandchildren, Michael Zaitz, Rachel Zaitz, Maria DeMeo, Elizabeth Curcio and Anthony Curcio, and her great grandchildren, Jessica, Lauren and Ali DeMeo; a granddaughter-in-law, Sandra DeMeo-Branga all of Peabody and her best friend Peggy Viera of Orleans. Mary was also predeceased by her son Anthony Curcio and grandson Michael DeMeo. Her family will receive family and friends on Monday, June 11th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by her service at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
