Obituary of Nancy A. (Elliott) Thorpe

Nancy Ann (Elliott) Thorpe, 81 PEABODY – Nancy A. (Elliott) Thorpe, 81, beloved wife of the late Morgan “George” Thorpe, Jr., died peacefully on Sunday June 3, 2018, at the Masconomet Healthcare Facility in Topsfield, following an extended illness. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Lyman and Gertrude (Doucette) Elliott. She grew up in Peabody, and graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1954. She then attended Mansfield Beauty Academy in Boston to embark on her career as a hairdresser in the health and beauty field. She worked around the North Shore area, and had many private clients until she retired due to illness. Nancy enjoyed spending Summers with her sister visiting their aunt and uncle in Calais, Maine, who were Lighthouse Keepers. He was inducted into the U.S. Coast Guard for his duties along the coast of Maine. As part of her family legacy, she loved visiting her sister and her family in Houlton, Maine. Her children also enjoyed that privilege and gained an appreciation of New England coastal living and respect for lighthouses as guardians for those at sea. She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Liane Wood and her husband Craig of Plantation, FL and Linda Slavin and her husband Paul of Peabody; a son Daniel Thorpe of Peabody, and her late son David Thorpe; her four cherished grandchildren, Patrick Slavin, Sarah Slavin, Natasha Thorpe and Kandice Thorpe; and a sister whom she adored, Frances “Frannie” Dunn and her husband William of Houlton, ME, and several nieces and nephews.
