Obituary of Enrico M. "Harry" Vitali
Enrico M. “Harry” Vitali 89, of Peabody, devoted husband of Nathalie L. (Ciman) Vitali with whom he shared 53 years of marriage, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House with his family at his side. Harry was born in Salem on October 14, 1928 son of Giavanni and Carolina (Serafini) Vitali. Raised and educated in Salem Harry has been a resident of Peabody for 50 years. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy on June 24, 1946 and served as a Petty Officer Seaman 1st Class and was honorably discharged on April 23, 1948. Harry was employed for 35 years as a custodian at the Salem Police Station in Salem until his retirement in 1992. He subsequently was employed in the same capacity at St. John the Baptist Church and Grammar School in Peabody, a position he held until this past February. Many will also remember Harry as the early morning short order cook at Red’s Sandwich Shop in Salem. He was a founding member of the of the Salem Italian Club, a member of the Italian Community Club in Beverly and the Knights of Columbus Leo Council 508 in Peabody. As hobbies he enjoyed playing cards, and going to Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun and Saratoga Springs. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa A. and Jon Rosato of Seabrook NH; his cherished grandchildren, Gina Rosato, Edward Rosato both of Seabrook NH, Mandi Noguera Vega and her husband Saulo, and Thomas Riley; 2 great grandsons, Joshua and Nathan Noguera Vega all of Peabody; a close family friend, Bobby Kwmuntis of NH, the McLaughlin family of Peabody, and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his loving son Robert “Bobby” Vitali and his siblings Fausto, Fred and Tony Vitali, and Lena Gangemi. His family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, June 12th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral will be held at 10 a.m. from the funeral home on Wednesday, June 13th followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. The family requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Care Dimensions, for the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B102, Danvers, MA 01923 www.caredimensions.org .
