Obituary of Donald Anthony Leo

Donald Anthony Leo, 70, of Venice, Florida and formerly of East Boston and Peabody, died on Monday June 18, in Florida following a lengthy illness. He was the devoted husband of Beatrice F. (Austin) Leo with whom he shared over 22 years of marriage. Born in Boston, he was the son of Virginia (Manganelli) Leo and the late Nunzio Leo. He was raised and educated in East Boston and Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School. Upon his retirement, he moved to Florida where he has lived for the past 13 years. Donald was a Peabody Police Officer and served on the force for 16 years retiring as an Armorer many years ago. He Also served in the National Guard for six years as well. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, playing the piano, and was also a car enthusiast as well. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his mother, Virginia Leo of Peabody, his brother, Stephen Leo of Seabrook, NH, and his companion Donna Obdens of Dracut, his sister, Nancy Leo of Peabody, his sisters-in-law, Judy and Richie Santoro of Winthrop and Pattie and Steve Maruzzi of Peabody, his uncle, Dario and his wife Bridget Manganelli of East Boston and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Following cremation, visiting hours will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody on Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 9:00 am until 11:00 AM followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association MA/NH Chapter, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 or a charity of one’s choice.
