Obituary of Rita A. (Curris) Cahill

Rita A. (Curris) Cahill, 96, of Peabody, wife of the late John G. Cahill, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018. Rita was born in Lynn on February 26, 1922 daughter of Peter and Annie (Zachko) Curris. Raised in Lynn she was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School class of 1939 and pursued her education at Burdett College obtaining her Associates Degree in 1941. Following her marriage in 1942, she and her late husband John made their home in Peabody. Rita was an active parishioner at St. Ann’s Church and a charter member of its Ladies Sodality, a member of the North shore Catholic Charities, St. John’s Mother’s Guild, St. William’s Guild at St. John’s Prep, the Leo Guild and the Friends of the Peabody Institute Library South Branch. Rita is survived by her children and their spouses, Kathleen and Walter Willwerth of NJ, William and Jennifer Cahill of NH, Maureen and James Farren of Amesbury, Kristine and Fred Kelleher of NH, Eileen Cahill of WA, Barbara and Shawn Quigley of Peabody, and John and Paula Cahill of GA; 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, her beloved cousins, and several nieces, nephews and her wonderful neighbors, Mark and Denise Downey, and Dave and Marilyn Ryder. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brothers Harry and Richard Curris, and her companion Francis Cahill. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, July 6th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, July 7th at 9 a.m. from the funeral home followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Ann Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody.
