So Sorry to read that Mickey had passed away back in 2018. I was only 15 years old back in 1976 when my older brother and cousins went to see ITMB at the Frolics at Salisbury Beach. My cousin bought both albums "On My Way" and "ITMB II". He played them for me over and over again and they all went as many times as they could to see them in the local clubs close to Reading MA. The first time I got to see them was when I was 16 and they all snuck me into the White Horse Saloon in Methuen. After that, I saw Mickey all over the place - The Frolics in Salisbury, The Cinema Room in Leominster, The Mohawk Club in Shirley and Mr C's Rock Palace in Lowell to name a few. The last time I saw Mickey was at the holiday inn lounge in Woburn in the mid 90's. He played without a drummer but still sounded great. I remember yelling out "Martha", which he played. He came over after his set and asked how I knew about the song and I told him what I just wrote here. He was truly touched .... A very nice Guy - RIP Mickey !

Mike taught me so much about how to have fun with music. We used to play duets out of the Arbans book after school. I was a trombone player but he helped me with my valve skills on the baritone horn. I have so many memories of doing crazy things with him; he had such a spirit of creativity. Must have driven his mother crazy. Thanks to Facebook I was in touch with him over the last few years. I was disappointed not be ever be able to see him when I came to Boston; I don't think he wanted me to see him in his condition of illness. My condolences go out to Deedee, Jane, and Luke. I would love to attend the funeral but am busy working in California and cannot make the trip. Hugs to all whom I know who attend. Dan/Danny Pitt

Mickey was a very dear friend and great musician who played many gigs with the Rick Barron and The Quavers Band. He was so talented as a musician and a colorful human being full of surprises. He left us with so many stories to share about him and incredible memories of gigs and playing music together for several years. He was a multi instrumentalist and had a deep love and passion for all music. It took him a little bit to catch on to the country music we played but he always played so well and added his own brand of piano country blues and boogie woogie sound. You will always be a part of me Mick I Love You BRO' and miss you. I posted his picture with Larry Schultz and I on my facebook page www.facebook.com/rick barron and the quavers with a couple of stories. To Mick's family I am so sorry for your loss. If I know Mick though he's already getting some gigs for us to play when we meet up with him and he'll be playing: "When The Saints Come Marching In" on his heavenly trumpet. God Bless You Mick and rest in his hands when your not playing music in heaven. You're a True QUAVER. LOVE YOU.

I've had so many fond memories of Mic back in the day when he and Bob Lichtenfls played together when I lived in SE Mass. Every now and then I would play an album I got at one of the shows or a cassette I recorded by hand. RIP Mic; let me dig out that album and remeber when once again.

To the Spiros family, please know that my love and heart are with you at this time. There are not enough adequate words to express the loss of your brother and loved one. Mike was truly a wonderful, witty, talented, and kind person. He will be greatly missed. I cannot express the extent of my grief fir the passing of Mic. We were essentially soulmates over the years. I have known Mic since forever. He had some problems that prevented him & I from staying in touch but I have never met a more sincere andbeautiful person as Mickey. I made the black & white satin ITMB backdrop for him and I believe he loved it so much he gave it to his Mom. I was there for him for many of the issues he had and tried to help him but as you all know help comes from within. We shared many beautiful experiences together and I think the last time I saw him was 2011. He hadnt changed and it was clear he was on a path to the end but you know what? He was happy and that's all that really mattered isn't it? I love you Mic Spiros and I know you loved me . Rest In Peace and I will always remember what a great friend you were to me. Xoxo Kim

It was August of 1971. I was playing drums in a Boston combat-zone night club, Mickey had an agent looking for a drummer, Mickey came into the club and introduced himself. Next day I wheeled my drums from Berklee school of music to a building next door and started drumming for Mickey. It was quite a ride, we had trying times, and in the end he was a life-long friend. Rest in Peace with music.

It's not often that one gets to meet their idol, then work for them, and then become close friends with them. I was first introduced to the band ITMB by good friend Jef De Booy in 1975. What I saw back then at the Brothers Four club in Nashua, NH was incredible. I couldn't believe my eyes and eaers that I was actually seeing 2 people play on stage. Jef introduced me to Mic Spiros and Bob Lichtenfels, two true rockstars and showmen.

Jef and I followed the band everywhere. I saw them so much that they offered me a job one night when I went to see them in 1976 at the Summit Club, now home of Capone's in Peabody. Working with road manager David Polsey and fellow roadies John Bryda, Steve Driscoll and Barry Greenglass, my life took on a major change.

Getting to work with drummers Ron Stewart, Joey Pafumi, Joe Petruzzeli, and Glen Moran as well as many other road crew, management, etc. was amazing. After leaving the music business I stayed in close contact with Mic over the years. We had so many shared interests including music, Boston sports, and technology. He was one of the strongest men I've ever known, never complained once about his illness and always had a positive spin on how he was doing.

Rest in peace, Music Man. Love ya, brutha.
