Obituary of Joseph P. DiGianfelice

Joseph P. DiGianfelice, 73, of Peabody formerly of East Boston, beloved husband of the late Donna J. (DiPaolo) DiGianfelice with whom he shared nearly 50 years of marriage, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born in Boston on February 2, 1945, son of the late Anthony J. and Marie E. (Ryan) DiGianfelice. Raised and educated in South Boston, he resident in East Boston for most of life before moving to Peabody in 2015. In 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a private until being honorably discharged in 1969. Joe was employed for 50 years as a printer at the Royal Label Company in Dorchester until his retirement in 2015. He enjoyed spending time with family and summered for 30 years at a campground in NH where he enjoyed playing cribbage with friends. Many will also remember him as a longtime youth sports coach in both South and East Boston. He is survived by his loving children and their spouses, David W. and Jessica DiGianfelice of Peabody, and Teri L. and Richard Thomas of NJ; 3 cherished grandchildren whom he adored, Dante and Gianna DiGianfelice, and Greyson Thomas. His family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 10th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, July 11th at 11 a.m. The family requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to MGH/North Shore Cancer Center, www.massgeneralnorthshore.org or to Care Dimensions www.caredimensions.org .
