Obituary of Arthur A. Fortin

PEABODY – Arthur A. Fortin, 90, beloved husband of Sally (Fichera) Fortin, died peacefully on Wednesday July 11, 2018 at the Pilgrim Rehab & Skilled Nursing Center of Peabody, following an extended illness. Born in Pawtucket, RI, he was the son of the late Armand and Madeline (Sartini) Fortin. He grew up and attended schools there and graduated from the Joseph Jenks High School in Pawtucket. He then enlisted in the United States Army, and served his patriotic duty during World War II. Mr. Fortin worked as a broom maker in Providence for several years. He was also a truck driver and dispatcher for many years. He later moved to Peabody, and worked with Market Basket in Middleton for over 11 years before retiring. Arthur enjoyed fishing, playing card games, watching Western movies, and was an animal lover. He was always busy supporting his family, and will be remembered as a feisty man dedicated to his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his wife, Sally Fortin of Peabody, with whom he shared 36 years of marriage; his seven children, Joy Nardella and her husband Joseph of Seekonk, MA, Arthur Fortin of Cranston, RI, Neil Fortin and his wife Tamara of Palm Coast, FL, Glenn Fortin of Westerly, RI, Brenda David and her husband Stephen of Harrisville, RI, Kevin Fortin of Cape Coral, FL, and Lisa Fortin of Plainville, MA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a brother Armand Fortin and sister Loretta Lussier both of North Providence, RI, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Anita Coffey, Henry Fortin, Gerard Fortin, Arcade Fortin, and Ann Bolvin. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a visitation on Monday July 16, 2018 from 9:30 to 11 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, MA followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St., Peabody, MA . A Private Family Burial Committal will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Boston, MA.
