Obituary of Evelyn P. (Fitzgerald) Leonard

Evelyn P. Fitzie Leonard, 66, beloved wife of the late Ronald Leonard, died suddenly at her home on Tuesday. Born in Arlington, she lived there for most of her youth. She attended Arlington schools, and graduated from Matignon High School in Cambridge. She then graduated from Cambridge City Hospital Nursing School. After her nurturing her family and children, she returned to work as a Registered Nurse at Lynn Union Hospital for nearly 25 years. Mrs. Leonard was a woman who loved her family, cherished her grandchildren, had a strong faith devotion, loved to travel and took a Pilgrimage to Medugorje, loved Irish music and culture, and was a quintessential Hockey Mom for her sons. She lived in Peabody for over 35 years. She is survived by: two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen & Heather Leonard of Plainville and Kevin & Denise Leonard of Franklin; one daughter, Patricia Leonard of Salem; her four grandchildren, Owen, Dylan, Aidan, and Jack; one brother, John Fitzgerald, Jr. of Arlington; one sister, Eileen Eccles of Wallingford, CT; and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 AM from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Adelaide’ s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A visitation will be held on Friday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 P.M. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.
