Obituary of Aida "Ida" M. (Rubano) Massa

Aida “Ida” M. (Rubano) Massa, 99 PEABODY – Aida “Ida” M. (Rubano) Massa, 99, beloved wife of the late Arcangelo Massa, died unexpectedly yet peacefully at the North Shore Medical Center—Salem Hospital, following a brief illness. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late James and Rosa (Candalupo) Rubano. She grew up in Salem, and graduated from Salem High School. She lived in Peabody for many years. Mrs. Massa enjoyed working as a Sales Associate for Jordan Marsh, which later merged with Macy’s Department Store at the North Shore Mall. Ida was a kind and loving woman, who was deeply devoted and passionate about her faith, family and friends. She enjoyed the community, and was involved with the Peabody Golden Agers, the Council on Aging, and volunteered with the Hug-A-Bear Program, and cooking for My Brother’s Table. She was an avid sports fan of the Bruins and Patriots, and nothing gave her more happiness than a feeling of togetherness while she prepared her Italian cooking for family on the holidays. She will be deeply missed, and remembered as a loving wife of 60 years, loving mother, and cherished “Nonna” to two generations of grandchildren. She is survived by a son Thomas Massa and his wife Barbara Alex of Marblehead, and daughter & her husband Judith and Dr. Arthur Buckley of Peabody; six grandchildren, Eric & his wife Erin Buckley, Todd & his wife Lisa Buckley, Adam & his wife Kristen Buckley, Trina & her husband Darin Chin-Aleong, Ryan Massa, and Kirk & his wife Britt Massa; 12 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Sarah, Luke, Kirsten Aida Buckley, Ava, Leah, Cameron, Christian, Cailyn, and Kyra Buckley, and Tyler and Jackson Chin-Aleong; a sister-in-law Barbara Rubano of Peabody, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her husband, by grandchildren Jenna and Colton Buckley, brother Robert, and sisters Rose, Lena, and Laura. Following cremation, relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a Funeral Service on Saturday July 21, 2018 at 10 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. A visitation will be held on Friday from 3 – 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
